There is a myth that brassieres help prevent sagging & are healthy for women.
The only exception being of course the sport bra.

The French word brassière refers to a baby's vest (undershirt) or lifebelt, underbodice or harness.
The word brassière derives from bracière,
an Old French word meaning "arm protector" and referring to military uniforms (bras in French means "arm").
This later became used for a military breast plate, and later for a type of woman's corset.
The current French term for brassière is soutien-gorge, literally, "held under the neck" or "throat-support".
In French, gorge (throat) was a common euphemism for the breast.
This dates back to the garment developed by Cadolle in 1905.

After the dream where I met the girl Big L Represents when I designed the character
I had no idea why the hell women wore bras
and thought they looked very uncomfortable so Big L has & always will have her breasts swing free in her tank top.
Though now I appreciate the opertunity for jiggling, peering nipples & wet shirts.

In 2002 Ayat al-Akhrass, 15, stuffed her bra with Semtex and detonated the bomb in a supermarket in Jerusalem,
killing herself and two shoppers.
